Kirsten Paull

Australian soprano Kirsten Paull (née Jones) has performed with Opera Australia (OA) since 2015, and holds full time position with the Chorus. She has appeared in numerous productions including Aida, La Gioconda, Otello, La Juive, Carmen, Madama Butterfly, Eugene Onegin, La Traviata, The Marriage of Figaro, Rusalka and multiple seasons of La Bohème and Turandot. She has performed the role of La Cucina in Madama Butterfly. Her principal roles include Countess Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro (Rockdale Opera Company), Nedda in Pagliacci (Sydney Independent Opera), Nella in Gianni Schicchi and Suor Angelica in Suor Angelica (Berlin Opera Academy). Kirsten has also performed with Harbour City Opera, appearing as Midnette and the Lover in Il Tabarro, and Una Novizia in Suor Angelica. Kirsten holds an Advanced Diploma of Opera and a Bachelor of Music Studies from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, as well as a Diploma of Music Performance from the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music. While studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, she performed a wide range of roles, including Juno in Orphée aux Enfers, Amine in The Pilgrim from Mecca, Clorinda in La Cenerentola (concert performance), the Fox and the Twin Sister in Les Malheurs d’Orphée, and the soprano soloist in Trouble in Tahiti. She sang in the SCM Opera School chorus for productions such as Il Campanello, The Merry Wives of Windsor, and Daisy Bates. She has participated in Masterclasses with Yvonne Kenny AM, Helena Dix, Louise Callinan, and Maestro Carlo Montanaro. In 2019, she was a finalist in both the Lockwood NZ Aria competition and the Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship. That same year, she was the featured soloist with the South West Sydney Philharmonic and the Fisher’s Ghost Youth Orchestra in their inaugural concert series. She was a long standing performer at the Wollongong Eisteddfod, having competed at the competition for over 20 years. As well as her performing career, Kirsten has taught voice at multiple schools and studios around the Campbelltown and Illawarra areas including Macarthur Anglican School, Wollondilly Anglican College & the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music, as well as running a singing studio in the Wollondilly and online since 2010. She was also the director for Macarthur Anglican School’s Choral Studies program for 10 years before taking on her full time role at OA.
